Republicans Hate Marriage

Many Republicans vow to preserve family values. This is odd because so many of them don't care for the sanctity of marriage. Here's one:

Mark Sanford

Mark Sanford

In June 2009, the whereabouts of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, father of four, were unknown to the public, including his wife and State Law Enforcement Division, which provides security for him, when he disappeared for six days. Sanford's spokesman, Joel Sawyer, told the press that Sanford was hiking the Appalachian Trail. Meanwhile, Sandford was in Argentina with his mistress, María Belén Chapur. A reporter tracked him to the airport upon his arrival and questioned him. Sanford said that he had considered hiking the Appalachian trail, but at the last minute decided to do something "exotic" and was alone for the trip. Shortly thereafter, Sanford held a press converence where he admitted to being unfaithful. Sanford later said that he "crossed the lines" with a handful of other women during 20 years of marriage. He was censured by the state legislature but completed his term. He had written in 2006 in regard to a bill permitting Christian license plates, "It is my personal view that the largest proclamation of one's faith ought to be in how one lives his life."
